Decorative Yard Flags for Spring

We are a week into March and I am more than ready to get out my Spring Garden Flags.  It's not been a hard winter, for us in Virginia anyway, but I am still anxious for Spring and spending more time outdoors.

I've been looking at books from the library with ideas on decorating outdoor spaces.  One of the easiest ways of course is with a decorative yard flag.  With so many spring flags to choose from it's hard to pick just one.  Here are a few that we have at FlagsandGifts.com

The "Tweet tweet Applique Spring Flag" is one of my favorites and it comes in both in the garden size and as a Spring House Flag.

Another very popular spring yard flag is "Butterfly Dance Garden Flag" .  It also comes in the larger  size as a house flag.

One of our newest additions for spring is this "Love Birds Garden Flag" this can also be a Personalized Flag for an additional fee.  Names can be added to the heart carved in the tree.

Happy Spring to you all and thank you for reading.

Personalized Flags make the Perfect Christmas Gift

It is the time of year when everyone starts racking their brain trying to decide what to buy everyone on their Christmas list.  Gifts mean so much more when you receive something you know the person put some thought and effort into.  When you receive something personalized such as a personalized flag, you know the giver did just that. Personalized garden flags and house flags make the perfect Christmas gift.  For a flag lover its the perfect addition to their collection and also a keepsake to keep for years to come.  Almost any decorative flag can be personalized although there are some that work better than others.

A lot of what makes a flag a good personalized flag is its design and theme and if there is even an area on the flag where a personalization will fit.  Some flags, as my daughter and I say, "Scream for a personalization".  Dog Breed Garden Flags are a good example of that and one of the most popular

types of decorative flags to get personalized.  They almost always have a nice blank area where the pet's name can be added.  A really special idea is to do a Custom Photo Pet Flag, these are truly unique.  For the pet lover on your list, you cannot go wrong with a personalized pet flag.

There are also flags for firefighters along with garden flags and house flags for all five active branches of the military that are great for personalizing.  To add someone's name to a military garden flag or firefighter flag and display that flag or give as a gift, shows that loved one the pride you feel. A personalized military makes a great gift any time of year.

In addition to the flags mentioned above we have a great variety of  Custom Monogram Flags

and Personalized Welcome Decorative flags all of which could make great gifts and keepsakes. Some of our most popular flags is our line of RV Camper Garden Flags.   These personalized Camper Flags make a fun and unique gift that can be used all year long.

Personalized Birthday Banner Garden Flags

I have always loved birthdays.  Even now when I dread my age increasing by "1" I still secretly look forward to my birthday.  It is the one holiday of the year that is especially for you.  So personalizing Birthday Garden Flags just makes sense.

To display the same birthday flag for everyone in your family doesn't represent what birthdays are all about, which is celebrating the life of one individual.  Personalized Birthday Flags do the job much better.  This Happy Birthday Wishes Garden Flag is a great example and is such a cheerful birthday flag appropriate for any age.  Just by adding a name, makes this flag so much more special. This is just one of many birthday flags that are available for personalizing.

A Custom Photo Birthday Garden Flag is also a great choice.  These are great fun for all ages.  When we created this Happy Birthday Custom Photo Flag we thought this would be popular for children, but we have actually gotten more orders using this flag for adult birthdays.  This decorative flag is great to display at birthday parties either outside or inside and makes a great keepsake to have for years to come.

If you have an idea of your own for a personalized birthday flag that you would like to have made for a loved one, let us know.  We do offer a "Design your Own" Garden Flag at our website where you can upload a design or photo and add your own text.  We are always happy to help with suggestions if you need them.

Thanks for reading and hope that you all , when it arrives, have a very Happy Birthday.

Personalized Back to School Garden Flags

Summer is flying by so quickly.  Back to School time is just around the corner so it is time to get your Back to School Garden Flag to display in your yard to welcome and support all who are starting a new year of learning.  There are many different decorative flags to celebrate this occasion from many different brands such as Custom Decor and FlagCenter. There is the School Time double applique flag that is a silhouette cut flag and even has bells that jingle in the breeze.  Another decorative school flag is School Days Garden Flag by Premiere Designs.

A Personalized Back to School Flag is another great choice.  We offer personalized garden flags for Back to School that thank a teacher or a bus driver and also a couple that display your school's mascot or cheer for a school football team.  These flags would be great to put out before a big game or just leave up all season. We also have a custom garden flag that we designed by request for a couple teachers who had their classrooms in outside trailers.  They were looking for a flag to put outside these trailers to help students and parents find the correct class.  We decided to go ahead and add it to our stock for other teachers with the same dilemma.

We wish all the students, teachers, bus drivers and support staff a wonderful and safe new school year.

Personalize Your Summer Garden Flag

Summer is such a wonderful time of year and the variety of summer garden flags out there help to express that.  To me decorative flags help you express your personality and interests. Depending on what you enjoy doing most in the summer there are beach flags, bird flags, art flags that show beautiful flowers and garden flags with gardening themes.

To express yourself even further, why not go with a personalized flag or custom garden flag.  A personalized summer garden flag makes your flag one of a kind.  It can be personalized with first names, last name or a monogram.  Some even allow more expression with full lines of text that can be customized to suit your taste.

We have a couple custom summer flags that are personalized with your name such as our Flip Flop Monogram Flag and our Ladybug Welcome Garden Flag.

We also personalize some of the garden flags and house flags that come from your favorite brands.  Some of the personalizations are free, some require an additional fee.

This Welcome to the Lake garden flag by Custom Decor is very popular for personalizing.  We also have a beach flag and pool party flag that you can add text and a name to.

We are always open to ideas for personalizing.  If you see a flag on our site that we do not offer with a personalization please contact us and we will see if it is possible.

A little more springing action please.

The day claiming Spring Equinox on the calendar has come and gone, and I'm starting to see lots of spring garden flags in neighbor's yards, but the old saying of action speaks louder than words, I think, applies here.  It may say spring on the calendar, but I'm not seeing much springing action outside. Yesterday's weather included a bitter cold wind and the day before that we actually had snow, and we are even in the south.  People in the north definitely are having it worse.

Despite the cold weather, I still am seeing lots of other signs that spring is here.  My forsythia is in full bloom, along with the daffodils.  Parent birds are busily going in and out of our birdhouses, and my yard is showing signs of needing mowed, UGH.  So, I'm busily planning and gathering supplies for spring projects.  Including, choosing which decorative flags to display in my garden.

Among our spring garden flags we also have Gardening Garden Flags.  These flags can be personalized.

If you are not a gardener we still have plenty of other spring flags, including custom garden flags to help you celebrate the warm weather, hopefully, to come.

Personalize your Valentine's Day Garden Flag

When it comes to personalizing items for a special occasion or holiday, Valentine's Day should be at the top of the list.  Nothing is more personal than expressing love.

A personalized garden flag is a great way to do that.  With one of these decorative flags in your yard you could tell the world you have a new love in your life, or reinforce how you feel about that one special person thats been in your life a long time. It's like putting your Valentine Card on a flag.

Of course the personalizations are optional, there are plenty of Valentine's Day yard flags that are just as fun with or without the personalization.  The choice is yours.

Happy Valentine's Day and thank you for reading.

Personalize your Holiday Flag

The holiday season is fully upon us.  Most people already have their houses decorated with lights, their trees are up and adorned and their Christmas garden flags are in their yard. Seasonal flags are both fun and beautiful and come in many different themes.  A personalized holiday flag is definitely one way to make sure yours is truly unique and special.  Many decorative flags can have names added. You can make it formal with a family last name or in some cases more casual with first names. The choice is yours. Adding names to your decorative holiday flag is a great way for you to offer Season's Greetings to all who pass by with a very personal touch. These can also make great gifts.

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. We all know someone who has suffered from breast cancer.  It is estimated that 232,340 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013 and I was surprised to read that the median age at diagnosis is 61. The survival rate of  breast cancer patients is wonderfully high if the cancer is found early.  This in itself makes awareness so very important.  To encourage women to get regular screenings and educate them on the options.  There are several awareness groups and organizations that not only provide education but also to give support and let patients and their loved ones know they are not alone.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month we have come out with a new custom garden flag that lets you show your love and support to someone you know that has been diagnosed with or survived breast cancer.  This breast cancer awareness flag will be on sale for a special price the whole month of October.

Personalized Garden Flags with a Homey Feel

In my last post I spoke about in between flags.  This time of year we are not in full swing of either season so I don't want to display a flip flop garden flag or yet an atumn leaves applique flag.  I like decorative flags with a homey feel and this is a good time to put these in the yard.  Many of these can become a personalized flag by adding your family name or first names.  Here are some we have at our www.FlagsandGifts.com store.  We have a Home Sweet Home House Flag, pineapple garden flags, Peace and Grace House Flag and Warmth of Home House Flag and all these decorative flags can be personalized.

Personalizing Garden Flags

We just received a new shipment of summer garden flags.  As I am choosing which flags would make nice personalized flags, I am again researching the proper usage of last names in personalizations.    Do you use possessive or plural?  Is the decorative flag referring to The Smith's house so you make the name possessive? or is it a declaration that there is more than one "Smith" here therefore putting "The Smiths".   Then there is the problem with some names that end in "s" they can sound and look rather awkward when pluralized such as the Edwards becoming the Edwardses.

I have been doing personalizations for quite a few years now between my embroidery business and our garden flag venture. To simplify and remove any question I have found adding "family"  the last name helps to take away any doubts and makes the personalization sound more natural.  Putting "The Davis Family" on a flag sounds much better to most people than the "The Davises".  There are some decorative yard flags that could really benefit from a personalization but have limited space and on those have to opt for the last name only.  I have learned in those cases to ask the customer to write their name exactly as they would like it to appear.  Proper or not, I have found some people are not happy with the way their name looks or sounds in the plural.

As to whether to use  the last name in a possessive or plural form, possessive does work if you add "House" or "Getaway" or anything along those lines.  We have a new  Lake Garden Flag that is a good example.  We offer personalization of the last name

Personalized flags are a lot of fun and make your flag unique and a one of a kind. We have lots of flags that can be personalized. Come see us at www.FlagsandGifts.com .  If you see a flag that is not listed for personalization but you would like it to be, just let us know.  We will do our best to accommodate.

Here is a few of the House Flags and Garden Flags we carry that can be personalized.

Winter garden flags

The holidays are nearing to an end.  All the Christmas decorations and garden flags will soon be taken down and put away till next year.  It is sort of a melancholy task putting things back to "normal" and fearing after the flurry of holiday activities, things might seem a bit dull.  I always plan lots of projects to keep me busy during those slow dreary winter months.  There is always a room in my house that needs painted and a new item I want to work on for the store and will look ahead at what new decorative flags we will be buying for the coming holidays and seasons.  We also need to pick out a winter garden flag to replace the Santa flag in the front lawn.  There are many to choose from.  See some of the great winter garden flags and house flags we have to offer.  If you like personalized flags we have many to offer.  You can visit us at www.CustomFlagsandGifts.com   All our Christmas Flags are 30% off until January 15th.
