A personalized garden flag is a great way to do that.  With one of these decorative flags in your yard you could tell the world you have a new love in your life, or reinforce how you feel about that one special person thats been in your life a long time. It's like putting your Valentine Card on a flag.

Of course the personalizations are optional, there are plenty of Valentine's Day yard flags that are just as fun with or without the personalization.  The choice is yours.

Happy Valentine's Day and thank you for reading.

Decorative flags for Everyday

glitter monogram flag
Sometimes we get so involved in the holidays and all the special occasions in our lives and the decorative flags that go with them, that we forget about the wonderful everyday things that are really the base of our lives.  To enjoy and share those everyday things we have in between everyday garden flags and house flags that come in so many other themes than just the holidays.

There are so many monogram flags that can be displayed any time of year.  Our glitter monogram garden flag is one example.

There are also lots of decorative flags that say "Welcome" or "Home Sweet Home" . Many of these may have holiday themes, but there are many that do not. Like our "Warmth of Home" house flag or several of our pineapple flags.

Besides these, there are many other themes of  everyday yard flags including gardening, pets, and military flags to name a few.

Hook a friend on flags

We all have a friend or family member that is next to impossible to buy for.  As their birthday draws closer you have to rack your brain every year deciding what to get them.  Its always in your own best interest to get them something that has lots of accessories or uses things that either wear out, get used up or can be collected.

The new instant coffee machines are a great example.  It offers tons of gift packages of pods in different types and flavors that replacements will always be needed for.  Another example would be to get someone started in scrapbooking by buying them an instruction book and some supplies.  The scrapbooking department in craft stores has an endless possiblilites of future gifts for a scrapbooking addict.

Getting someone hooked on decorative flags might be the very best route to take. A garden flag lover always welcomes a new flag.  There are always themes they don't have covered or well loved flags that are worn and need replaced.  Just start with the flag stand and one relevant flag for whatever the season may be and you will know what to get this person for years to come.  You will feel so clever and all the while they will be very appreciative.  There is also an available starter kit that is sure to get them wanting more.  It is a garden flag stand and four decorative flags, one for each season.  They will immediately be looking for birthday flags, welcome flags, holiday flags and more.

Birds in the Winter

As our  winter  temperatures take its normal roller coaster ride from the 60's to the teens within several days, I watch out little bird friends and wonder how they tolerate the frigid part of the ride.  Their tiny little bodies seem as if they would freeze solid in those sub freezing temperatures.  I replaced my Christmas flags with some winter bird garden flags and then did some research. I found that nature has given them lots of tools to help them keep warm.

Their feathers are perfectly made to help keep them warm and work even better when they do their fluffing, which creates air pockets among their feathers to create even better insulation.  Who doesn't love to see them all puffed up, they look so adorable.  They also use dense bushes where we've all seen many birds in one bush filling each available cavity and all fluffed up, it makes such a
wonderful vision.  Also I read, special scales on their legs and feet help slow heat loss and that if food was readily available for them in the fall, they have a nice little layer of fat that also helps to keep them warm.  These and other gifts from nature help them through the winter, but there are things we can do also.

Offer a good quality winter bird food and keep the feeders full.  Make sure they have access to plenty of water.  During continuous below freezing temperatures, they may have trouble finding water sources that are not frozen.  There are even warmers you can put in bird baths to make your job easier.  Give the birds shelter in both the form of bird boxes and in your landscaping.

Let it Snow Decorative Yard Flags

The holidays are over and it is time to take down the holiday yard flags.  We are now facing those
let it snow garden flagremaining weeks of winter.  In my mind, those weeks are dreaded.  I am not a fan of cold weather.  I tend to avoid going outside and look forward to warmer days.  On the other hand , I do try to be a cheerful person so make an effort to pull myself out of my funk.  I get involved in projects and am famous for having several going at once.  Usually at least one craft project, I pull out an afghan I have been knitting for years, paint and redecorate a room in our house and last but not least decide on what decorative yard flags I want to put out for the winter.

The winter landscape does tend to be a bit dreary, I always hope for those rare southern Virginia snowstorms to brighten things up.  Since snow is so rare here I favor a winter flag that features snow in some way.  There are so many to choose from.  Decorative flags that say "Let it Snow" are very popular.  I also love a good snowman garden flag.  Some of these can also become a personalized flag.

So as I say Happy New Year to you, I would also like to wish you a happy a cheerful winter.
